Tim introduced me to schwarma last night at the souk.  The schwarma had beef with veggies and some sauce in a thin pita like bread.... so yummy. I also had a coffee that was soooo good to top it off with. Together, our bill came to 12 riyal ... Tim paid, I am still learning. I am fasting now as I must go have a physical at the hospital here for my igama paper work. My body clock is off as I have not adjusted to the new time zone yet but that is ok...... No biggie. Matt, from my church in LeRoy told me he had read that you can resync your body clock to the new time zone by fasting and then breaking the fast in the new time zone. Maybe this fast for the physical will do the trick. Yeah!
After Tim got home from his day at work, we took care of a few paperwork details here on compound and then walked 20 minutes over to one of the shopping areas called the Al Shatea souk. The souk is a shopping area where lots of shops and outside vendors, selling everything imaginable. What fun! I bought a couple of little fake plants to decorate the apartment with, a toothbrush, a pair of sandals, a hook to hang my abaya on by the downstairs doorway, and a two sided clock to hang on the post in our downstairs living room area.... all in all wonderful fun. Tee hee! That is also where Tim bought me supper out and I tried on some abayas to be purchased during a future shopping trip. Lots of fun. We walked back with our purchases just as the sun was beginning to go down. We had made our last purchase as the shops were closing due to the call to prayer. All the shops close during prayer. Oh, I did wear my abaya and scarf while we were off compound. I found out you do not run in the abaya I had bought.... more like a fast shuffle. I found this out when we had to cross a busy intersection on our way to and from the souk. Think about trying to run in a long sleek formal. Ha! I saw some abayas that had a lot more leg room.... :) When we got home we moved the furniture downstairs around and decorated a bit with our new purchases. Fun fun fun.
